United Way

Partnering up with our Director of Epcot Program Development, John Dent, I created executive messaging for our United Way campaign to help our Florida neighbors.

Week 1

Hello Epcot team,

The 2018 Heart of Florida United Way campaign is finally here! As Epcot’s United Way executive champion and as a passionate volunteer myself, I am excited for the Epcot family to join the quest for education and the fight against poverty, hunger and health issues in our community.

The theme for this year’s United Way is “the final showdown for the ultimate Champion” between Team Guardians and Team Jedi. Both teams will fight to address the challenges focused on by the Heart of Florida United Way – education, poverty, hunger and health. Since both teams are fighting for the same causes, I can’t help but join the team that is so monumental to our evolving park – Team Guardians! You can choose whichever team speaks to you by participating at DisneyUnitedGames.com.

No matter what team you join, we are all better united. I know how compassionate our Epcot family is and with your commitment, we will continue to make a difference for our friends and neighbors. Last year, with 98% participation, we did an outstanding job helping thousands of people in Central Florida. To hit our goal of 100% participation and make 2018 even more successful, we need your help.

Remember, you’ve got the superpower to make a difference!

I’ll see you in the park,

Week 2

Hello Epcot team,

We are in the second week of the Heart of Florida United Way campaign! What an exciting time to get pumped for making a change. Over in Future World, the Attractions team started off with a bang, supporting my favorite team, Team Guardians!

Encourage your Cast to join their team by donating or participating at DisneyUnitedWay.com. Whether you chose Team Guardians or Team Jedi, I am overjoyed at our parks ability to unite for our community.

Last year, our donations helped United Way provide 1,577 individuals receive suicide prevention and intervention services. As World Mental Health Day took place last week, it is important that our community is receiving the help it deserves to lead healthier lifestyles. United Way agencies like IMPOWER, Inc., American Red Cross of Central Florida, Aspire Health Partners and many more provide services that help our neighbors, not only with mental health but with other health needs as well.

Let’s continue to fight for our community – to make it stronger, happier and healthier. Since the campaign began on Oct. 8, Epcot has reached 42% participation. That sounds like a great start to me, let’s keep it going. As always, remember, you’ve got the superpower to make a difference!

Week 3

UW2018_header.jpg

Hello Epcot team,

We are now into the third week of the Heart of Florida United Way campaign. Across the Walt Disney World Resort, Team Guardians and Team Jedi are split right down the middle – with 50% representation each! Of course, I’m still rooting for Team Guardians but I am so proud of how we are coming together and fighting for the challenges addressed by the Heart of Florida United Way – health, hunger, poverty and education.

Did you know that with our help, United Way was able to provide programs for nearly 14,000 children, youth, parents and guardians to boost every child’s chance for success in school, work and life? With services like Hope CommUnity Center, After School Programs, Inc. and several others, United Way is able to help our neighbors who require it the most with educational needs.

Not only does it feel great joining a team online to help others, but it feels even better getting up and going out to help those in need. It’s just as important to donate your time as it is to donate funds to help out our neighbors in the Central Florida community. My family and I love to get out and help with VoluntEARS all year round!

Whichever way you choose to help our community, I appreciate you lending a hand. Since the campaign began on Oct. 8, Epcot has reached 71% participation. Help your Cast find their team by donating or participating at www.DisneyUnitedWay.com. Every donation, be they big or small can help children and adults alike get the education they need.

And by now, you should know that you’ve got the superpower to make a difference.
